The Chevrolet Corvette CERV III is a custom car brought to Stunts mainly by KyLiE, with some assistance from Zapper and Cas. The 3D model and dashboard are based on the Test Drive III representation of the actual CERV III, but feature significant improvements and adaptations. The performance parameters have been configured from scratch by KyLiE alone.

The car saw its official debut in 1 October 2021, with the track Alpine in the Race For Kicks tournament. It was first featured in ZakStunts in season 2022 with the track Regeneration? (ZCT246).

Development

Around middle November 2020, KyLiE asked Cas how feasible it would be to import a Test Drive III car model into Stunts. Cas replied that making a model Stunts compatible was not the problem, but interpreting the format of TD3 models might be unthinkable. Looking at the binary files, he hadn't got a clue of how it could be done. Then KyLiE pointed out that he had see a topic in the forum not long before regarding Test Drive III models. Cas remembered it. It was a Stunts forum topic that contained a link to another forum in which somebody had created a Blender model of one of the Test Drive III scenarios. Cas downloaded it and found that the three original car models were part of the scenario model and he cropped them and turned them into separate Blender files.

The idea was to re-scale one of the models and covert it to OBJ to load it with CarWorks or Stressed and start working on it. The CERV III was chosen first. The 3D model produced lots of artifacts in Stunts, so it was simplified until it was more or less stable and then Cas made the first very rudimentary 3SH file with CarWorks 0.1 auto-paint-job-generator. He also obtained the dashboard images from Test Drive III by brute force, taking screenshots of the game and made a very basic VSH file that produced many glitches. From that point onward, KyLiE worked alone on the model for months with Cas only testing it from time to time.

KyLiE adapted the dashboard palette and made some modifications to get it to look better, got rid of glitches and improved the gearbox. The 3D model was also specialised for Stunts, although it kept displaying some glitches from time to time. He then started working on the physical parameters from scratch with Cas testing the car every now and then. Most of the production of the car were months of KyLiE working on it alone.

As the 3D glitches continued to appear, KyLiE contacted Zapper for help. Zapper helped get rid of these glitches and made several improvements to the 3D model until it was fully optimised.

In 30 September 2021, KyLiE announced the new car with this forum post. With the car ready, a race was organised in Race For Kicks for its debut with a track by KyLiE called Alpine in October 2021.
