Night and Fog modes are dashboard modifications designed to simulate nightly and foggy environments. The idea is to enhance the game's immersive experience by adding different weather and lighting conditions. Normal vision is reduced to two circles directly in front of the car, simulating the car's headlights. The rest of the view outside the car will be altered by the mode's effect. These effects add extra difficulty to the race, as the track and its various elements are reduced, making them harder to distinguish. The car have headlights in this mode so you can "illuminate" the road and the different elements while you aproach them. This is the only way to see the real colors of the enviroment.

Night mode

  • The overall view is dark.
  • White, yellow, and some red objects appear black. The yellow lines on the road, the concrete blocks of the slalom course, and the kerbs on the curves are black.
  • Gray asphalt is black.
  • All types of grass are the same darkened color. Water is also darker.
  • All colors are darkened. Objects like boats, corkscrews (left/right), and pine treetops are completely black. Everything white and grayscale appears black.
  • The sky and plain grass are the same color, making it difficult to find the horizon and use perspective to judge distances.
  • The walls of elevated roads are dull red.
  • Corners may look wider than its real size because the white and red kerbs are black.

Fog race mode

Fog mode

  • Every color goes to grey scale
  • The grass and the paved road has the same grey color so the only way to know where is the road is following the road lines which are black instead of yellow.
  • About the kerb, the red kerbstones has the same gray than the grass and the paved road and they can only diferentiate the white kerbsstones.
  • Elevated road fences has the same gray than the road and the low terrain grass.

These modifications are originally intended for live races and relatively slow cars.
